The Challenge: All Running Results

The original post.

The final day.
...results to follow soon

When I posted "Day 7" it was at the beginning of the day, so the "day" also includes the time up until 1:15pm today (1.5hrs from now). It kind of became apparent that this was going to be easy. $214.37 in 36 hrs, ok ship it. I know I had another week according to the original rules, but pride felt at stake here. Low stakes, high pride. As I played, I was getting destroyed. Not beat, raped. Not just normal raped, Law and Order SVU raped. Two outers were falling literally every hand. It was gross. Yes, it happens to everyone. Yes, it was only super low stake games. But the pride, the pride of completing this and helping my girlfriend and making a poker house with Aaron and all these other things...it was about pride. Sure I could pay an extra $214.37, who cares. But I had to win it. I had to. Fucking pride.

So after playing for 4 hours last night, I was down tons. I managed to come back to a deficit of $255.51 for the challenge. And, yes, -30 cause I check raised bluffed river in HU cash lol. So going into this morning, I was furious. I woke up bright and early and started playing at 7:34am. *Yawn*

The game just got worse. Now 1 outers were falling, every 3-1 known to man didn't hold. I actually considered getting a dice out just to keep guessing a number for it not to roll, and be wrong each time. This way at least when I'm 5-1 fav in poker, I'm more due to win now that I've lost it all to a dice. Gambler's fallacy?

So I'm down tons, try to load 16s to scrounge it back. Didn't work. I consented with myself that I wasn't going to load anymore games before the 1:15 deadline. It was over, time to throw in the towel. I get down to several games. They drop. They drop some more. I'm down ~490 from the end goal at this point, and I only have two 3r's left. Then, one. I have to bink this game to win the challenge. Pride, my girlfriend, Aaron, moving, everything. 2nd place wouldn't be enough to seal the deal. I had to win it. I needed over 490, and first was 510. Going into the break I was 1/17. My friend Kevan, who hung out with me and talked on skype the entire 4 hr set yesterday, was getting the commentary on AIM. I broadcasted the whole thing to him, each hand, each stack, each ranking change. It's pretty intense when you understand everything on the line - especially when you are reading it while you are working in a hospital:).

PokerStars had it out for me. I had to battle pocket fours, THREE TIMES. Like, cmon, give them aces. No they have 44. I was 3/3. So many intense spots and some unusual sitations, but I think I played well. And for once, good play was rewarded.

Boom imo.

Day 7: SHIP!
There are officially 26 hrs left in "part 1" of this challenge, but heck now I want to just finish it now. I've had a change of fortune/genius idea that worked out well. I realized I was at 73k fpps and asked Aaron if he'd buy my bonus before hand, and I just ship it to him when I clear it. BOOM! +1.5k instantly thanks buddy! Bigniux also shipped 5% of an mtt finish (8th in 24+2 multi entry on FTP for ~1.3k). Wow man. Impressive. I also realized I had $150 in stellar money (and another $50 very soon) that I can contribute. Here are the new totals going into the start of day 7.

I started off with $500, needing to end at $6,250 total money.
My contribution with starting roll: $2,000
Extra supernova bonus and stellar rewards: $1,650
Contributions from amazing friends: $642.50
Winnings at the tables: $1,743.13
Grand Total: $6,035.63
96.57% complete. $214.37

I'LL BE PLAYING FOR THIS $214.37 NOW WOOOOOO!

Day 6: Half day. 100 games, +4 lol.
Not worth really saying much today as nothing really changed. I did make a deep run in the 3r mtt but got coolered v AA with 99 in an ultra standard spot.

Day 5: ~210 games, +808.69
Totals: +1739.15
Progress: $2,239.15 of *$4,172.50. 53.66% complete.
*Adjusted net goal (ty to foleyfocused and big love to N.Zealand!)
Comments: After 7.5 hrs of play, I'm happy yet kind of disappointed with the results because they could have been much better with a single big 3r finish. I made so many deep runs in 3r's and just got ripped apart when it counted most. I went back to low stake games and with >100% roi on ave. stake $4 for the day, I'll take it.

Day 4: ~230-250ish games, +136
Totals: +930.46
Progress: $1,430.46 of *$4,229.50. 33.82% complete.
*Adjusted net goal (ty friends)
Comments: I decided to stop playing micro stake games. I just couldn't take it anymore. Plus, the results should have been much better - if I didn't lose every key hand. This includes a JJ vs A3o at a 3r final table which easily could have been worth $500 instead of like $40. Oh well. I didn't reach my absurd 400 game goal (dream big, fail bigger), but I will be playing tons over the next few days. I'm finding I am becoming frustrated because it is not my personality to consistently check results. I can feel every "bump in the road" so to speak, instead of just playing and not caring about winning or losing.

Day 3: 216 games, -29.56
Totals: +794.46 of $4,229.50.
Progress: $1,294.46 of *4,330. 28.90% complete.
*Adjusted net goal based on help from friends and 350 amount: $4,330
*Great news! It turns out the amount is $6,250 and not $6,600! So it's like I won $350 today lol.
Bad day at the tables, ty 3r 1st place to salvage a bad day.

Day 2: 210 games, +249.20.
Totals: +824.02
Progress: $1,324.02 of *$4,700. 28.17% complete.
*Adjusted net goal based on help from friends: $4,700
Big thanks to Ben, Elevil, clickys, Roy4l, and Weandago:)

Day 1: 298 games, +574.82

I'd like to thank those of you who have helped out. It means a lot to me.

The Challenge

It has come to my attention that someone is in trouble. Recently my girlfriend has found herself in a weird situation with her work. To keep an extremely large story short, here are the cliffs.

- She has to pay $6,600 in order to leave her job.
- The only way I can afford this is by putting off engagement/marriage which I don't want to do at all.

It deals with contractual obligations that the company didn't hold their ground on, and now she is majorly screwed if she wants to leave her job. Now, here is where things get dicey. Here are the cliffs on why we should move.

- In addition to the contractual stuff, employees at her work are also getting state mandated pay cuts. She misses out on travel money and has to work longer hours with LESS pay. With no exaggeration, her job just became -EV. She now has to work 10-11ish hour days and gets paid less than what she was making when she worked 8 hours a day.
- My gf can get a new job in the same field of work that pays way better
- If we move (which would be in 2 months), we would move somewhere around the area of Sacramento, CA.
- Abarone68 is soon moving to Sacramento, CA in 2 months.
- If I move, me and Aaron plan on starting a poker house at Aaron's new home where players can fly in and stay for around a week (details are still being sorted out). But in short, there will be a training house in Sacramento, CA with 2 of the best players teaching you live.
- If she doesn't pay $6,600, none of this happens. Period.

So I am proposing this challenge. $500 to $5100.
(side note, as I do this challenge I will still be doing all of my normal work which already consumes my days. You can expect me to lose major sleep during this. You may think, why not play higher? The reason is that I want to minimize $variance during this challenge.)

Rules:
1. 2 parts, 1 week each with a break in between.
2. I am giving $2,000 of my own money towards the $6,600 including the starting $500 bankroll.
3. I need to earn $4,600 in actual profit.
4. Start with $500, finish week 1 with $2,550. Finish week 2 with $5,100.
5. Bankroll management is key. I will start low. A mixture of all sng types.
6. Start date/time: Monday, February 21. 1:15pm pacific standard time.

If anyone wants to help out a bit with this, it would really make my day. Even if it's something small like $5-10 it would make me feel so happy. If anyone decides to do that, please leave a comment below. Any money added will be removed from the $5,100 end amount. For the person who donates the most, a free coaching session on the house.

Please rail if you want, and any time I'm HU in a tourney I'll have chat on. It would help the motivation a lot. I will also post results each day.

New Coaches, New Logo, New Site

The website is within days of being relaunched, and I'm very excited. We've added bubbleoutcas, imo one of the greatest 180 man players hands down and abarone68 who is one of the best 9 man players on earth. Applications will be accepted for the new coaches starting when the new site launches. You can follow the sngprotege twitter feed to know when!

Check this baby out! The designer of the new website also designed this logo which is pretty bad ass imo. I'm very excited to have this be the official logo and avatar of sngprotege.

Countdown to launch date? <1 week for sure.

The 1 Outer

The term "1 outer" can be overused. The meaning of it is so extreme in poker. The ultimate loss, the worst of beats, the apocalyptic bitch slap.

Recently, Aaron/Abarone68 got the mega-ist of mega-ist opportunities. Play poker with Daniel Negraneu. Theee Daniel Negraneu. The guy who has half million pots with 1 outers that fall for Gus Hansen, the guy who basically is the skinny and white and canadian Lebron James of poker. Aaron gets to sit with him at a poker table. One word...

But the chances of this happening? Heck, pretty damn rare. This makes getting 1 outted seem commonplace. The odds of getting 1 outed are 2%. People don't realize this is ONE OUT OF FIFTY. That means the odds of winning the lotto must be same odds as running the river over 50 times and hitting the 1 outer every time. Obviously though the process of getting to the situation where a 1 outer is possible is also pretty rare in itself, so the odds must be <2% by a lot. Especially if YOU hit a 1 outer.

[x] wat?

Yes, guys. I hit my 1 outer. Not only that, I think the curse of 44 is finally over after 1.5 years of waiting.

I decided to limp utg, not cause I'm stt set mining noob, but because the last 3 hands I've raised and won none of them.
