PokerStars is on Eastern Standard Time

So I learned a valuable lesson just now. I loaded up my last set of January to clear 7.5k VPPs. $51 in rake I had to spend. I threw in some 16/27/38 9 mans, some 12 45 and 180s, and 1 27 45. Great $51 in rake, well done. So at about 9:27pm as I have 2 games left I load up my VIP Status section.

7,494.04

What? I had 269 points and some change for February. Wow. Really?

Now my status looks like this.

Apparently Stars is on Eastern Standard Time. I did think about this before the day was over. I am Pacific Standard Time in California which is 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time. So 9pm is the new midnight. Cinderella must have lived on the East Side.

Obviously the only logical next step is to email Stars and ask politely. I really hope they come around on this one.

Another Forty

A Formal Forty.

I played 147 games straight tonight. 100 of which (woops 101) were good 'ol 16s. A little mini prop bet vs abarone68 made it fun. Unfortunately due to slow load times late at night, we had to play about 15 games together. Compliments of Aaron's superb artistic technique and creativity, we can awe in amazement over this priceless image.

The bets are for most money won, redline ev, most wins, most cashes, and finally most bubbles over the 100 games. After 101 games, I earned a whopping $48.50 with a redline of $254.
I only got 11 wins and 39 cashes. Throw in only 9 bubbles and it doesn't sound half bad. But it was pretty bad. In fact it's the first time I've been forced to look at results and it tilts me.

I did win some other games including a $12 45 man which was pretty interesting because probably the sickest call I've ever made gave me almost all the chips in play. Bragging isn't cool, but this is a solid brag.

Gimmie A Forty

As the month rolls to a close, it is beginning to become clear that I don't play enough anymore. I was able to slow down my volume after clinching supernova for the 2nd year in 2010 so I could focus more on sngprotege and coaching members. Needless to say, I was never pressured to maintain supernova.

Oh hey-ro 2011, I need to keep supernova with 7500vpps/month. I know what you are thinking. "You can miss a month!" Yes well, it's only a matter a time before I put it off until next month, then the next and then boom too late. My days are consumed with sets/normal coaching/coaching members, and I'm getting to the point where I have to do what I can to keep supernova. I think it's pathetic though because some guys make 5.5kvpps/day (simplicity8) and I have to scrounge 3.5k more before groundhogs day minus one.

So what to do? Have a forty!

...x2.5!

I set out to play 100 games straight tonight. I started at 9:51pm and ended at 1:42am - an elapsed time of 3hrs51m. Wow, I need to piss bad.

I played a mix of 16s/27s/22s/33s/12 45s/12 180s/and a failed 11 and 55 turbo mtt. It went well, but I don't know the results. Not interested in seeing them either.

Closing the night out in a really nice fashion, I managed to bink a 12 180. Now, HU I played really well and picked off a few bluffs and stole some pots that didn't belong to me. But the only reason I got there is because PokerStars managed to return the favor. They basically exchanged my January month for this one hand. Not worth the exchange imo, but I'll take it for now.

On a much weirder note, I got bot tested. WHAT! This hasn't happened for 2 years! Back then they did it twice, and ok no problem I type in the word that appears in the chat box at all tables. Um, the problem though...this time I had like 30 games up with Table Ninja running. EVERY game started flickering. To make matters even worse, I couldn't type the word in the 30 seconds of allotted time. Oh why? TABLE NINJA AUTO REFRESH TAB IS ON UUUUUUUUGH! So everytime I click to chat, it pops back to info tab. Oh ok, so turn it off in ninja and it will work. It didn't, don't ask, I don't know. In fact TN makes me fold hands before my time bank is gone. wtf? Anybody have this?

So that's that. 40 x 2.5 games, it's 2am, I'm wiped. Tomorrow I will do it again, but this time with abarone68 and bagclip2005. All 16s. Prop bet time. Weee!

Another Cliche (but dope ass) Prop Bet

Well, I'm winning biggest loser in poker for January. It's to the point where I could just load my games up, walk away, and still earn the same amount of money. But at least now I can focus some attention on something that has no luck involved. My friend and I got a pretty insane prop bet that began Jan 20th at midnight.

Here's the cliffs...

His starting weight is 344. To win, he has to lose 120lbs. That's right. ONE TWENTY. He has something on his side though. He is beginning a 15 week liquid diet that is monitored by the local hospital. It's really legit and really sick actually. I want him to succeed. But at the same time, I have to get ripped ass abs (pretty much the odds of me winning a flip in January). Uh oh. But obv had to spice it up with manies. So here is the bet. The deadline is midnight at new years.

If he wins outright (win = -120lbs), he gets $800.
If I win outright, I get $200.
If I succeed first, and he succeeds as well before the deadline, he wins $400.
If he succeeds first, I have until the deadline to succeed in order to save $400.
If I fail, and he succeeds at the ultimate prize (getting to 200lbs), he gets $1,000.

On your marks, get set, go.

Snap Crackle Pop Call and FULOA

I'm coining two new phrases. Enjoy.

1,000+ people in a 24+2 turbo on FTP. 22 left, I'm 4th in chips with 186,000 in the CO at blinds 5/10k. Chip leader has 244k. To my left is one guy with 200k on the btn, and the blinds have roughly 80k each. I got AKs (how cliche) and pop it to 22000, and the btn insta jams. I snap crackle pop call.

Aces.

Dear Law of Averages,
It seems that you do not understand the mathematical equilibrium to which you are suppose to adhere. Having AKs makes AA half as likely yet you seem to ignore that statistical certainty. Please stop making this happen in mega pots potentially worth 5.8k.

Yours Truly,
Glitlr

I also had a chip lead super deep in a $33 mtt, obv lost some key races and that didn't pan out. So right now it's 1:40am and I'm 1 tabling the $8 2r1a that is down to 4 tables.

FU LOA.

Website Updates and Two Ideas

I'm happy to announce that we will be losing our T-card soon. I will be opening up a sngprotege twitter soon so I can update cool stuff when it happens. I'm extremely pleased how the site is going so far. Let me tell you, there are students who are crushing. I don't mean winning, I mean fucking bulldozing. I'm so proud of how hard people are working, it's really a privilege to help. At any rate, I think twitter will be an excellent way to give a pat on the back to these guys as well as keep the community updated with current information.

I also plan on adding a sngprotege facebook page soon, so when it's up I hope even people who aren't involved with the site add it as a friend. I don't know exactly when I'll add it, but it should be soon. Sounds fun too.

Two more things.
1) I really wish $7.70 180 mans could be added to the main mtt lobby on Stars. I emailed Stars once about this, and they told me that it is something that would have to be discussed at an official meeting. Do you guys have any ideas of how to make this happen? Would some type of email petition work? I'm just curious because I think having these run more often then say - oh, once an hour - would be great for everyone.
2) I think everyone's avatar should be them playing in front of a webcam. Live tells in the online world, boom.

Worst Day in A While

I just finished playing for about 5 hours straight and unfortunately it was pretty crappy. The last 2 days have been bad too but not as bad as today. It's really interesting how you can always feel the bad results creep on you. People slowly begin to peel 2 outers and the pace doesn't seem to get slower. Today I played a bunch of mtts and mttsngs, and I actually did some 9 mans as well. The 9s went well, but the others sigh. It's really frustrating getting KT on a KK8 flop in a 20r mtt and not having the best hand even though it's certainly possible. Couple that with giant pair vs AA over and over again in key spots at final tables of 180 mans and near the money bubble in another 20r for a mega stack, and it's really frustrating. I'd love to post graphs but I tend to ignore results completely. I mean, obviously we all know it went bad but I don't like to put a number on it. Same goes for winning too. I just hate knowing results. But ya, hey, no one cares! So to myself I say...

Also, best license plate eva? Same car as mine, but wayyyyy better license plate. And the heater prob works.

2010 Review and 2011 Dreams

2010 was a good year overall, but when finding my goals sheet stored away on my computer I noticed some pretty lol stuff.

2010 Goals
1. 300k vpps
2. Defend #1 rank
3. Move to 27/38s
4. Roll around in rakeback

Instead, 2010 brought unexpected things. Here is what I actually did in 2010.

1. 120k vpps
2. Stopped playing 16/27/38s permanently after a blown prop bet that drained my soul
3. Moved to mttsngs and mtts
4. Left rakeback behind and rethought everything
5. Studied
6. Opened a website

Even though I came no where near my goals, who cares. Every year thousands of poker players muster up these elaborate goals of what they want. Me included. I commend you all for it, and I hope you do better than I did at obtaining the goals. Guys who shoot for sne and get there - my hat is off to you. I will never get sne, or 1/2sne, or 1/4sne ever. Ever. I just don't have it in me. So with that said, here are my goals for 2011.

2011 Goals:
1. Play more and maintain supernova
2. One nice mtt score (one time plz)
3. Continue to learn
4. Help some players achieve their goals at sngprotege
5. No poker blackout
