Feb. Results

Well, pfff, easily my worst month ever. I actually was +3 in games (total games, not sngs, I'll explain), but just did a -90 set lolz. I found out I needed $177 more in rake to "keep" supernova, but I can't bring myself to do it this weekend. It's ok. I've had supernova since 2008 and it's an important source of income (bonuses/rakeback) so I doubt I'll miss another month of it. This month was just completely lol b/c I lost like 1300 in games outside of the 16s. Bagclip, jeez don't get me started, just makes me collapse mentally because he applies the most mind controlling form of peer pressure I've ever heard! He talked me into playing a 20R mtt with an add on AND the sunday million. -215 lolz. Thanks, buddy:). In the 16s I made somewhere between 12-13ish in the 800ish games I played so I don't feel that bad considering I ran pretty crappy this month anyway. Although I must admit, my redline isn't exactly Januaryesque so I think I played poorly in them - but more so in the beginning of the month. Coaching went well though, and I really hope some people I helped can win some money and prove that I'm not a luckbox. So overall I'm up this month enough to pay bills, but nothing amazing.

HOWEVER, one cool bit of news is that I'm going to be moving into a new house. Now, look, I'm not this baller spacegravy/bfizz player who buys some massive house. I'm renting, lol. But it will be nice, as I've grown tired of where I live now. I'll be living in Fresno (which is no brag at all), but at least I will be living in nice part of it - pretty much 90% of that town is pure crap.

Just for fun I thought I'd share this. I forgot that I gave my gf $10 on pokerstars. Here is her garf. I'm not even kidding you, when she played (was a while ago) she seriously didn't know which hand was better - 2 pr or 3 of a kind. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING! She just knew how to play the nuts early, and I taught her 2 endgame techniques that most people don't know about. Obv ran bad in 6s at the end lolz.

2nd post today - Emergency Post

So I just had the biggest wtf moment EVER in a sng. This guy hugo ra has been disconnected for like 10 hands now and is long gone from the game. So this comes up...

PokerStars Game #40233628323: Tournament #246291774, $15+$1 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level X (400/800) - 2010/02/23 18:22:46 PT [2010/02/23 21:22:46 ET]

Glitlr: OH NO WHAT DO I DO??!?!!

Oh wait me thinks, I emailed stars about this over a year ago and ZOMG I know how the server behaves under these circumstances. ZOMG I made a post on 2+2 about it.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/36/stt-strategy/when-player-sitting-out-disconnected-362430/

So, now that you've read it, the bottom line is that if there is AN AGGRESSIVE ACTION (ie - raise, not call) to put the guy all in, his hand is FOLDED. So, with that said...

Glitlr: calls 1175 and is all-in
Uncalled bet (2985) returned to carltons11

Seat 9: carltons11 (button) showed [Qs 9d] and won (2480) with high card Ace

I've made this call with people sitting out since it's effectively 3 handed. But apparently if he's DISCONNECTED, the PokerStars server behaves differently. I've emailed support and they are "forwarding my message to a poker specialist," **pleeeeease be Negraneu lolz*** and I am still awaiting their response. Clicking fold is instantly worth $27 here, so you can see why I am mad.

Discuss!!!

How can you block your blue star?

It really just comes across as "he's embarrassed about having a bad month so he blocked it." At least that's how I'd interpret an outside view on it. Although the bad month part is true (although it's turning around thankfully), the real story behind blocking the star is to make Aaron more profitable:). He's had a killer February and I'm really happy for him. If his confidence wasn't already high enough, there is nothing like adding that blue star to make you wanna crush even more. TBH, I think the blue star is overrated. I think when you first get it, it makes you feel like you are king. But after like 2 weeks it really doesn't matter anymore - well, at least to me. For those of you who don't know, Aaron actually had the blue star for 27/38s back in Feb. of 2008 when he passed one of the best players imo (Premier) on the leaderboard. In fact, a lot of misinformed people might think he is a big loser based on his sharkscope graph. How did Premier lose all that money? Well, high stakes ldo. But where did the money come from? What people don't know is this...oh, what's that? WSOP final table...(go to the 8:10 mark)

After you watch this one, you should definitely watch the other 4 parts. Premier is Maros Lechman. Baller imo.

Anyway, I hope Aaron uses the motivation from the blue star to motivate him hard.

February

February is easily my worst month ever. But it's pathetic really. A country is shattered my an earthquake, people are dying, and we all complain about cards? Card games are so trivial and the more importance we place on it, the more we take away from what's really important in life. But, nonetheless, it is a job. And like any other job you can't just get up and quit, not show up for work, and put a middle finger in the air. That's pretty much the basis for why I'm mad at myself. I've played only about 500 games this month. Yes, I had an excuse to take it easy for the first week after January. What's my excuse now? None, absolutely none. The lack of success on the tables, and the lack of volume is purely laughable. People work 8 hr days and I can't muster up the strength to play 3 lately. Check out my results. Oh, it's not like the red line goes up either...

85 games I base this on lol. Now I know why new players always question results. 85 games is meaningless. 85 games is approx. .21% of the games I've played all time! Yet, I boo hoo about results. (also -192 on FT) For those of you who fall into that category of players who "really wanna win big," or "wanna go for the gold," or "have that dream," or "I run bad and it won't happen but it should happen I work hard"...I leave you with this.

There are only 2 ways to not make money at this game.
1. Be a bad player
2. Be a good player...who gives up

Why 27s own my soul

I just played a set of half 16s/27s. -250. Nice start for the day. It's the first time I've ever - in 40,000 games - tilt called my stack off. I called with 32o in my final game vs. someone b/c I was so mad. Here are some stupid things that happened to me. I shove 1200 utg 8 handed 75/150 and a "reg" calls me with TT in MP (probably not good) but it's not awful. T comes obv, but I think this is a fundamental fold. People get so caught up in shove/shove/shove that they fail to even get the most fundamental spots down where your calling range is literally like <5 hands. I raised KK 2.5x utg at 100 200 7 handed with 2500 and some guy reshoves utg+2 for 1700 and 77 (nice) and flops 77J so gg nh. Basically every pair on pair action (ie - I have QQ+ and they have 77- lol) got crushed. It's funny though, cause when Fat Afghan beats me (standard bvb shove he has J6 I have AQ) I don't feel bad at all cause I respect him like crazy. I'm like, wow great play sir gg. But this one guy, who was loading a bunch of games. I don't get it. I am, dare I say it, intimidated??? I'm intimidated by 27s? I was intimidated by 16s a year ago and now lol at me being an idiot. But this guy, I look him up, he's not up much at all, I'm like ok let's go so I load a bunch with him. This guy, is a 27 REG? I hate that term reg b/c it's taking on the meaning of "a good player" instead of it's real meaning- um, "a guy who plays REGularly." This guy opens 2.5x at 50/100 on the bubble with 1500 utg (ok, not horrible), and then calls a 3b to 1500 from the 5k stack sb when the next closest stack to him is 2500. What do you think a 3b to 1500 has right here? Certainly a range that obliterates 55. That's ok, 55>JJ. Strangely enough, this is the only 27 I cashed in. A few hands later at 75/150, this happens...

A6o! Ok, let's assume some possible ranges. If villain shoves 10%/15%/20% the respective edges are -5.76/-4.57/-3.44. If we remove QQ+AKs from his shoving range, the respective edges are still -5.56/-4.30/-3.14. I'd guess the true range of a 12bb shove here AS DEFAULT for a RANDOM (assuming he's not an habitual limper) is somewhere around 22+AT+KQ+. Enjoy your A6 call sir, if you wonder why you can't make as much money as "you should" or "because jokerstars is rigged," maybe you should just burn your wallet instead. It's the same process but takes about 40 minutes less time on average.

But seriously, why do I get mad at losing? It's not like I can't pay my rent all of a sudden or any other bills. Nothing substantial will alter in my life. It's just an electronic number that drops a bit when things go bad. It's seriously retarded to let poker affect you like this. It's a stupid card game. When it all comes down to it, poker is like on the bottom of my life food chain. I don't give a crap about it. But sadly, I still let it F with me during session. Outside of playing, I really don't give a crap about poker at all. Hey, at least I don't talk about it in public...

I'll leave you with this hand that had me baffled.

February is sloooow...

Hi, if I could be anybody in the world right now, it would be loonatwok. Rly! I was just reading how he crushed like 3200 in a couple days, and it makes me wanna play. This month has been so slow. I've played the equivalent of like 1.5 January days (about 300 games) and I've gone no where. I think my red line and green line are both around -300 this month. HA! Good thing last month was like 3 normal working months. I don't feel so bad anymore. Hey, at least coaching is going well. I rly hope some of these guys can prove that I'm not a luckbox afterall:).

Just for fun I started thinking of this. Was wondering, if I could make an all-star 9 man table (or a death table) whatever you wanna call it...here is what I would have...

In no particular order, I'd have spacegravy, loonatwok, sippin_criss, azntracker, rookie62, albatross77, jhub, the_venetian, and someone else I can't decide. What do you think?

New Month, New stuff, No more 9 mans?

Well it's all done. Thank god. I crossed it by $36, and I'm really happy it's over. Today is the 3rd day of my sng abstinence, but it's probably my last. I'm gonna jump back on it starting tomorrow and play mostly 18 mans to change it up a bit. It's really gross to think that I played 1/6th the amount of hours I put in during 2009. Pretty gross imo. I will be coaching a lot more hopefully, so if you would like to book some times plz feel free to PM me on 2+2. Also, I was asked to do three more videos for www.sitngogrinders.com, so I'm rly pleased that people are enjoying them. If any of you guys are members, it be pretty cool if you guys could post a hand or two or really interesting spots that you have trouble with, and I can include these in a video.

Happy February and Glitlr to ya.

Oooh, also, I've payed everyone off for the bet except for three people. Piratos, I just wanna make sure I send the money to the right place. Wix, hit me up on skype, and Noah whatever you know I'm good for it lolz.

WOWOWOWOW just add this! As I'm typing this the news is on in the background and it says that my town (well, Fresno...close enough) is the drunkest city in the nation. HA! Oh man, and Austin, TX is 5th. So apparently sngs = drunk.
